It Doesn't Matter Where the Road is Leading to if -

Once in a corporate restructuring and re-engineering exercise, the consultant laid down the framework of the re-engineering exercise. Two of the top questions he wrote were1. Where are we now?2. Where do we want to go?Before the discussion even began, a young executive stood up and said that since it is to change a new path for the corporation, the order of the day should be1. Where do we want to go?2. Where are we now?His argument was, if they started thinking on their present condition, they would be limited by the restriction and resources available to go where they wanted to go. A heated debate exploded on what should be the order of the day. What happened next is not the subject of this article, but the questions remain, "Where do I want to go?" Stop your rat race for a moment and ponder them over. If you are still bothering too much by which is the order of the day also, whether it should be, "Where am I now?" before you consider, "Where do I want to go?"Let me share with you one story. A Young man was lost in the junction on a country side, did not know which road he should take to continue his journey. So he asked an elderly man who happened to be in
the field,"Excuse me, mister, can you tell me where is these road leading to?" and "Where am I now?" he asked. The elderly man looked at this young man apparently very lost and asked him, "Young man, tell me, where do you want to go?"The young man replied, "I don't know, sir."With a sympathetic looked at the young man, the elderly man replied, "Young man, if you don't know where you are going, it does not matter where these roads leading to! And it does not matter also where you are now, it make no different any way!"Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving." What direction are you moving today? Are you being trapped in the rat race and trying to emerge winner in your rat race? If you do, remember this. "The trouble with rat race is, even if you win you are still a rat!" said Lily Tomlin. Many people are being trap in the daily routine and trying all the means to win over others in the art race. In today instant noodle world, most people look for quick fix, wanted immediate returns and not willing to plant the seed of greatness in them. They easily forgotten which direction they wanted to go, engross them in defeating others so that they can emerge winner. They have been blinded by their short term gain over their long term goal. So, pause for a moment and stop doing what you are doing now, give yourself a couple of minutes and seriously think it over, "Where do I want to go?" You will find a whole new world in front of you!"Great it is to believe the dream when we stand in youth by the starry stream; but a greater thing is to fight life through and say at the end, "The dream is true!"
